Seasonal Abhyanga
Warm herbal oil, grounding touch, and space for your whole system to soften.
Service Description
Seasonal Abhyanga is a deeply nourishing 75-minute Ayurvedic body treatment designed to calm the nervous system, ground the body, and support deep rest through warm herbal oils and slow, rhythmic touch. The oil and its application are personalized to you. I consider the season, your constitution, how you are feeling that day, and what your body is asking for. Oil is applied with care throughout the treatment—more generously where the skin and tissues feel dry or depleted, and adjusted where a lighter approach is more appropriate. Unlike conventional massage, the primary intention is not deep muscular manipulation. Abhyanga uses grounding, rhythmic strokes to nourish the skin and tissues, soften tension, support circulation, and help the body move out of a state of constant doing. Depending on your needs, your treatment may also incorporate marma point therapy, gentle Vishesh-inspired techniques, Reiki, facial or scalp massage, and simple Ayurvedic guidance. Each session is different because each person—and each season of life—is different. Seasonal Abhyanga can be especially supportive during times of stress, overwhelm, dryness, fatigue, hormonal or seasonal transition, difficulty slowing down, or simply when you need to be cared for. You do not need to know anything about Ayurveda before coming. This is your time to rest, receive, and reconnect with your body in a quiet, supportive space. 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐄𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐭 We’ll begin with a brief check-in about how you are feeling and any areas of pain, tension, tightness, dryness, or sensitivity. I’ll explain the treatment and ask about your comfort with oil on the abdomen, face, and scalp. These areas are always optional. You’ll have complete privacy to undress to your comfort level, leaving underwear on and a bra if preferred. Once you are settled on the warmed treatment table, I will knock before entering. Only the area being treated is uncovered; the rest of your body remains warmly and securely draped. The amount of oil is adjusted according to what your skin and body need, so you should not leave feeling excessively greasy. The treatment concludes with warm towels to the feet and back, followed by a few encouraged moments of rest. Wear comfortable clothing afterward and, when possible, allow the oil to remain for a little while before showering within a couple of hours.
