Cold Support

Cold-supportive foods such as ginger can bring warmth and comfort while hydration, rest, and nourishing meals support recovery. Ayurveda uses warming qualities to balance cold, damp Kapha and unsettled Vata.

When a common cold feels chilled, heavy, or depleting, ginger tea, warm soups, fluids, rest, and easy-to-digest meals can offer comfort.

Ayurveda may see damp heaviness as Kapha and chills or dryness as Vata. Ginger warms and supports agni, though very hot preparations may not suit burning irritation or elevated Pitta. These measures support comfort; they do not cure a viral infection. Breathing difficulty, dehydration, chest pain, confusion, severe symptoms, or symptoms that worsen need medical attention.
