Congestion Support

Warming foods such as ginger may help congestion feel more comfortable by supporting warmth, hydration, and movement. Ayurveda uses pungent qualities to lighten excess Kapha and support the pranavaha srotas.

Warm fluids, steam, rest, and pungent culinary foods such as ginger may help loosen the feeling of heaviness and make nasal congestion more comfortable.

Ayurveda associates thick, cool congestion with Kapha in the pranavaha srotas. Ginger’s warming qualities may encourage movement, while hot, dry, or irritated tissues often need gentler choices. Food and home care do not treat asthma, pneumonia, or infection. Wheezing, blue lips, chest pain, marked shortness of breath, persistent fever, or rapidly worsening symptoms need prompt care.
