Digestive Stimulation

Digestive-stimulating foods awaken appetite, warmth, and movement when digestion feels sluggish. Ayurveda uses warming, aromatic, sour, or pungent tastes to kindle agni while avoiding excess heat.

Aromatic spices, bitter greens, pungent vegetables, and modest sour flavors can awaken appetite, salivation, warmth, and digestive movement when a meal feels slow or heavy.

Ayurveda calls digestive fire agni. Gentle warmth may help cold, sluggish Kapha digestion, while stronger stimulation can worsen burning, reflux, inflammation, or elevated Pitta. Support should feel enlivening, not harsh. Persistent appetite loss, trouble swallowing, ongoing pain, vomiting, unexplained weight loss, black stools, or blood in stool warrants medical evaluation.
