Drying Herb

Drying herbs concentrate the Ayurvedic quality of ruksha, helping counter dampness, heaviness, or excess secretions. Because this action can also aggravate Vata and depletion, culinary amounts and context matter.

Drying herbs can reduce moisture, oiliness, heaviness, or excess secretions. Bitter, pungent, and astringent herbs often express this action, though each plant differs.

Ayurveda calls this ruksha guna. It may balance damp Kapha but can disturb Vata, causing constipation, dry tissues, restlessness, or weakness. Culinary seasoning is not equivalent to a concentrated tea, tincture, powder, or capsule. Choose the herb and duration carefully during pregnancy, chronic illness, or medication use. Persistent respiratory, digestive, or fluid-balance symptoms need appropriate assessment.
