Fiber-Rich Foods

Fiber-rich foods support regular bowel movements, feed beneficial gut microbes, and contribute to healthy blood sugar and cholesterol patterns. Increase fiber gradually and pair it with enough fluid.

Fiber-rich foods include vegetables, fruits, legumes, whole grains, nuts, and seeds. Different fibers add bulk, hold water, or feed beneficial gut microbes, supporting regular elimination and contributing to healthy cholesterol and blood sugar patterns.

Ayurveda reminds us that even a beneficial food must be digestible. A large, sudden increase in rough or dry fiber can aggravate Vata and cause gas, bloating, or constipation. Increase gradually, drink enough fluid, and use soaking, thorough cooking, warmth, and appropriate oils when needed. Persistent constipation, bleeding, severe pain, or an unexplained bowel change should be evaluated.
