Respiratory Support

Respiratory-supportive foods and herbs may offer hydration, warmth, soothing moisture, or aromatic movement according to the type of cough or congestion. Ayurveda individualizes care through Kapha, Vata, Pitta, and pranavaha srotas.

Respiratory comfort may call for warm fluids, adequate hydration, soothing foods, or aromatic spices depending on whether tissues feel congested, dry, cold, or irritated. One approach does not fit every cough.

Ayurveda considers the pranavaha srotas and asks whether Kapha heaviness, Vata dryness, or Pitta heat predominates. Foods and herbs can support comfort but do not treat asthma, pneumonia, or serious infection. Breathing difficulty, blue lips, chest pain, coughing blood, confusion, or rapidly worsening symptoms requires prompt medical care.
