Stimulant

Stimulant foods and herbs temporarily increase alertness, energy, or nervous-system activity. Ayurveda considers whether stimulation briefly helps sluggish Kapha or further depletes Vata, aggravates Pitta, and disturbs sleep or ojas.

Stimulants such as caffeine and certain herbs can temporarily increase alertness, heart rate, or perceived energy. They may be useful in context, but they do not replace sleep, calories, hydration, or recovery.

Ayurveda asks whether stimulation briefly lifts heavy Kapha or further scatters Vata and sharpens Pitta. Excess can contribute to anxiety, palpitations, reflux, irritability, and disrupted sleep, gradually drawing on ojas. Sensitivity and medication interactions vary. Chest pain, fainting, or a sustained racing or irregular heartbeat requires medical care.
