Urinary Support

Urinary-supportive foods and fluids help maintain normal hydration and urinary function, while Ayurveda considers apana Vata, pitta heat, kapha stagnation, and the mutravaha srotas. Symptoms of infection or obstruction need medical care.

Normal urinary function depends on hydration, kidney health, hormones, circulation, and the absence of infection or obstruction. Water and water-rich foods support ordinary needs, while excessive diuretic use can create dehydration or electrolyte problems.

Ayurveda considers apana Vata and the mutravaha srotas, distinguishing heat and burning from coldness, stagnation, or weakness. Food may support comfort but cannot reliably treat a urinary tract infection. Fever, back or side pain, blood in urine, inability to urinate, pregnancy with urinary symptoms, or worsening burning and urgency requires prompt medical care.
