My Sweet Love Affair with Oil!

Updated: Oct 20, 2025

Editor’s Note (October 2025): As we return once again to this season of warmth, grounding, and nourishment, I find myself reflecting on this piece I wrote nearly three years ago — My Sweet Love Affair with Oil. The sentiment remains the same: Abhyanga, or daily self-oil massage, continues to be one of the most loving rituals we can offer our bodies, minds, and hearts.

If you’ve been curious to start your own oil ritual, now is the perfect time. 🌿 Banyan Botanicals is offering 20% off all herbal oils from October 21–29 — a rare opportunity to stock up for Autumn and Winter self-care.

Below is my original love letter to oil — a reflection from the early days of my Ayurvedic journey that still warms my heart and skin alike.

It’s true… I have a sweet love affair with oil. I was going to say Secret Love Affair, but if you know me, you’ve probably heard me talk about oil once or twice.

I've been dousing myself with oil for 10 plus years, much before I knew anything about Ayurveda. I had no idea Abhyanga (warm oil body treatment) was a thing. I was doing it through instinct on myself and loving how I was feeling afterwards.

Sneha, the Sanskrit word for oil, means love. Saturating your body with oil gives the same feeling of being wrapped in a warm, cozy blanket filled with love. Tis the season for warm and cozy! And who doesn't need a little more love.

It is such an honor all these years later to be sharing the gift of Abhyanga with others. I am incredibly grateful to my amazing teacher Charlotte of Trillium Ayurveda & Yoga in Orange MA for training me to offer Abhyanga to my community.

I believe that Abhyanga is one of the greatest acts of self-care and love that provides you great health benefits. It hydrates the skin, soothes the nervous system, and nourishes the internal organs. It aids in better sleep, calms the mind reducing anxiety and nervousness. It lubricates the joints, relieves muscle soreness and assists to eliminate the impurities of the body.

If self care and/or love is on your list to do in 2023, I would love the opportunity to wrap you in a warm blanket of oil in our sweet treatment room.

I have openings this weekend along with 3 different pricing options to help make this manageable for you. Click on the button below for more information.
