The Living Aligned Way: A Seasonal Connection Between Ayurveda and Yoga

ree

As someone who has walked the winding path of self-healing, I’ve come to understand that Ayurveda and Yoga aren’t just ancient sciences—they are living, breathing practices that root us in balance. They’ve helped me come home to myself, and it’s from this place that I now teach what I call Ayur Yoga—a seasonal, intuitive, and doshic approach to practice.

While Ayurveda is the "Science of Life," offering a comprehensive view of health through food, herbs, lifestyle, and the doshas (Vata, Pitta, Kapha), Yoga provides the movement, breath, and meditative tools that bring it all into embodiment. When woven together, they become a powerful system for healing—one that honors both the unique individual and the ever-shifting seasons of nature.

Rooted in the earth, soft in the spine. Ayur Yoga invites us to meet the season—and ourselves—with tenderness.

What Is Ayur Yoga?

Ayur Yoga isn’t just a class—it’s an experience crafted with intention. Each session is inspired by the current season and the energetic qualities that arise with it. In summer, for example, we honor the fiery Pitta energy that may show up as intensity, inflammation, or irritability. Our movement becomes cooling, our breath slower and softer, and our mindset shifts toward ease.

Rather than pushing through, we soften. We rest. We align.

In my classes, you might:

  • Flow slowly with the breath to balance Vata

  • Cool the body and mind with forward folds and pranayama for Pitta

  • Activate and uplift Kapha with energizing movement and heart openers

But it’s never one-size-fits-all. I offer Ayurvedic guidance to help you listen inward and adapt your practice to meet your needs. Because the real teacher lives within you.

Ayurveda Off the Mat

Starting the day with warm water and a smile—one of the simplest yet most powerful Ayurvedic rituals I practice every morning.
Starting the day with warm water and a smile—one of the simplest yet most powerful Ayurvedic rituals I practice every morning.

What happens on the mat is just one piece. The rest is how we live. Through my teachings, I encourage simple seasonal routines—like starting your summer mornings with rose water, coconut oil abhyanga, and light, cooling breakfasts—to support your body and mind.

This is Dinacharya, your daily rhythm, and it becomes a companion to your practice. When we eat with the seasons, rise and rest with the sun, and honor our inner nature, we create the foundation for true healing.

A Living Tradition

Ayurveda and Yoga are not separate—they are sisters, meant to walk together. When we learn how to align with our dosha and the rhythms of the earth, our practice becomes more than a workout or a routine. It becomes sacred. It becomes yours.

I invite you to explore this integration with me in class, in session, or in your own home practice. Begin with where you are. Let your breath lead. Let your body teach you.

Because living aligned isn’t about perfection—it’s about coming home.
